The movie started when the dead body of a young nun was found by Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet) , a villager who always transport supplies to the nun from nearby village. The incident was later known by the Vatican who later on asked Father Burke (Demian Bichir) to investigate about the incident.

Together with the help of Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), they started to reveal what really happened behind the young nun’s death. What they didn’t know was the young nun was trying to make herself as a sacrifice to protect herself from being possessed by a demon named Valak, from unleashing evil.

In my opinion I personally think that the director did a great job in this movie despite this movie getting various critics from its fans. Some of the fans describe as this movie is being too cliche by having too much jump scare.

However, in terms of the setting of this movie it does gave you the chills to your spine especially in the catacombs. The abbey itself is creepy and the atmosphere sure will make you think twice before actually going to this place in real life.

Nevertheless, the movie still worth to watch. And no matter what you do, don’t stop praying.
