Living The Brand

13 years ago, one of my early years in my career was with TM, and during that time I had the opportunity to attend a Living The Brand course.

Since then, wherever I go I will be proud of what my organization is doing and what I have built.

One of the ‘Living The Brand’ icons that I idolize is Tan Sri Tony Fernandez. We often see his love and pride towards his AirAsia brand by wearing the Air Asia red cap. The Air Asia logo can be seen in every media outlet that covers his story. Yes, that’s part of living the brand.

In the early days I developed the Lejen brand, I used the power of the I AM LEJEN car sticker. At first, 300 pieces of car sticker were distributed for free by the end of 2011.

By 2012, the sticker was already in demand with its own value among Lejen brand enthusiasts. The stickers started to sell for RM5 and within the 1st quarter of 2012, we managed to sell over 1000 pieces of I AM LEJEN sticker.

Who do you think was the first person to put this I AM LEJEN sticker on the car? Of course it was me, because I understand and proudly live with my own brand.

In the beginning, whenever I saw any car with I AM LEJEN sticker on the rear windshield, a sense of pride slipping inside. My small efforts to raise this brand slowly breed and show results.

I remembered in 2014 (or maybe 2015), I was invited to meet one of the EKUINAS directors, Mr. Hizwani Hassan.

The first thing he told me during our meeting was, “I’ve seen too many cars with I Am Lejen stickers, so I’m interested to meet and know who is behind this brand.”

Friends, that’s when I realized that brand power is an effort that we all need to start ourselves. Consistently, and of course, with pride.

Who else would raise and be proud of our brand if not we ourselves?

As of Lejen Press Digital which my team and I have established since August 2018, the success of attracting more than 2 million readers to our portal in a short time is the result of the efforts to raise the brand name since the past 8 years.

For 2020, in addition to and other media platforms that we have, two more platforms are in the pipeline for us to build.

Hopefully 2020 will be a year where the brands we build will continue to grow and thrive, better than ever.
