Being one of his biggest fans, it still amazes me how very few people know Sahidzan Salleh. He does have his own fanbase but I still don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. His previous book Sepuloh Nama was just brilliant so I went into Pada Waktu-Waktu Yang Terhapus with high expectations.
PWYT starts with a writer discovering his neighbour’s dead body before he goes to work and his life just goes downhill from there. The first part of the story made me think the book was just going to be another Sepuloh Nama but even before you know it, you have stepped out of the familiar zone and into a strange territory. And you’ll be hooked from there, wanting to know what is really going on.
Don’t be irritated if you feel the story a little bit messy and cluttered, it is meant to be that way.
Sahidzan Salleh is just on a whole new level than other local authors; he doesn’t spun stories out of thin air and really does his research. He’s so good that I’m going to forgive all the unnecessary obscenities and few spelling mistakes in the book.
Go read either Sepuloh Nama or Pada Waktu Waktu Yang Terhapus if you love mysteries and thrillers. Sahidzan Salleh is, no doubt, one of the best local thriller writers we have.
