Actor Laurence Fishburne, who plays the role as the Bowery King recently reveals how the latest installment on the John Wick franchise, John Wick 4, is the best one yet.
Since 2014, Keanu Reeves has been playing the role of a retired professional assassin who begrudgingly returns to the ‘underworld’ for revenge when his dog was killed. This neo-noir thriller franchise follows Wick as the domino effect of his vengeance unfolds.
In the latest trailer for John Wick 4 release in July, it still shows the same vigor as the action-packed film expands onto the story with the High Table now in search of him.
The sequels have expanded on the franchise’s mythology and worked to constantly one-up the preceeding film in terms of fight sequences, which has kept audiences thoroughly engaged.
In keeping with this progression, John Wick 4 is set to bring a number of new actors to the franchise, such as Bill Skarsgård, Clancy Brown, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, and also Ip Man’s Actor, Donnie Yen.
Now, in an interview with Variety, Fishburne describes John Wick 4 as the best in the franchise so far. He says he knew that just from reading the script, highlighting set pieces and characters that take the series in a new direction.
How Can John Wick 4 Top The Others?
Through riveting action choreography, John Wick has developed into a fascinating franchise, known for its incredible displays of martial arts and extremely grounded approach to violence.
This is in large part thanks to the filmmakers being committed to the stunt work, helped by having career stuntman Chad Stahelski at the helm as director. Each movie in the franchise has been very well-received by both fans and critics, and topping the first three entries will be a tall order for John Wick 4.
However, as Fishburne mentions, it seems like John Wick 4 will bring many new additions, both in terms of fight scenes and characters, that should make for a bigger and better movie.
Additionally, filming took place in Japan, Berlin, Paris, and New York City, so there should be some exciting locales to go with the action scenes.
Though much of the plot remains under wraps, fans can expect John Wick’s bloodlust to continue as he stands against the High Table. Whether the expert assassin’s latest journey is also his greatest will only be determined when John Wick 4 hits cinema in March 2023.
