Jump Or Adjust: The Boiling Frog Theory

Let’s do this. Take a frog and put in it a container filled with water. After that place the container on the stove and start heating it.

It can be seen that as the temperature rises, the frog is still able to adjust its body temperature with the water temperature. As the water temperature keep on increasing, the frog shows no sign of jumping out as it stills adjusting its body temperature with the water.

Just when the water is about to reach the boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust anymore so it decided to jump out of the water.  The frog try to jump but is unable to do so because it already lost all its strength in adjusting with the water temperature. Soon after that the frog dies. Now what killed the frog?

A lot of people say that the boiling water kills the frog. However the real reason on why the frog dies is because its inability to decide on when to jump out from the water.

Now that’s just how it is in our daily life. We all need to adjust ourselves with the people and the situations. However, the difference is you must know when to adjust or when to leave.

There are a few times in life when you are face with a situation and you need to take an appropriate action for it. If you think you can handle it, fight and give it al that you had.

On the other hand, if you think the situation is beyond your control and you cannot handle it anymore, leave your ego, quit and start to move on to a more productive cause in life. This does not mean you are giving up but it means you are ready for something better for you.

So my advice is always decide when to jump or adjust.
